Sulgrave Farm, Chesapeake, Ohio. likes. Sulgrave is a small family farm located in Chesapeake, OH, four miles from the Ohio River. Sulgrave Manor is pretty compact which might disappoint some, but for me that was much of its appeal. I find many grand stately piles with endless rooms to be much of a muchness. The history of Sulgrave is unique to American history. It is the ancestral home of George Washington and dates back to the s. George never lived there since his grandfather had already emigrated to the Americas. The manor went into disrepair and was basically ruins by the early s.
